Women Empowerment – Police Training
for Students - 9th November 2017
We are living in a time when attacks on women are on
the rise and they hardly feel safe in their own homes. It seems that the first
most effective way of curbing this intrusion is the ability to react and
confront the assaulters. Our system of education and the different programmes
we organise aim to achieve this objective – enabling and equipping our students
to stand up to the challenges they encounter.
The girls in our college, on 9th November
2017, underwent an exclusive one-hour training programme. It was inaugurated by
Mr. Murugan, Sub Inspector of Police, Idukki. Rev. Fr. Toji Puthenkaduppil CMI,
Principal, presided over the function and felicitated the gathering. Ms.
Linumol Wilson welcomed the gathering and Ms. Amala John proposed vote of
thanks. It was organised by the Department of Police, Idukki, and the class and
exercise were conducted by a batch of women police officers from Idukki and
Murickassery stations. The result was a rare opportunity for the female
students for learning the skills of self-protection directly from the police
force.
hich students and teachers recited their poems in deep, resounding and
rhythmic voice. There were also other innovative and entertaining events such
as tongue twisters, Kerala quiz and speaking about a given topic continuously
for two minutes completely in Malayalam. The programme concluded with National
Anthem.
