Food Fest - 16th January 2018

Who wouldn’t love a mouthful of some delicious food or would shy away from trying one’s hand in preparing some. Imagine if both the events are combined!

That’s what we did on the Tuesday, 16th January by holding our Food Fest 2018.

The entire congregation of students were divided into four houses, Blue, Green Red and Yellow. The classrooms were turned into kitchens and students assumed the role of chefs. After about three gruelling hours of execution and experimentation in the lab that was to be called a kitchen, some exquisite and exotic dishes were on the table. It was a visually appealing sight - delectably appetizing dishes arranged in some specific orders garnished with herbs, the air being filled with the spicy aroma and with everyone, more tellingly, impatiently waiting for the judging committee to finish grading the eatables.

Chicken, whether it was deep-fried to be served with pulav, fried rice, or biryani, was a perennial item on everybody’s menu. So was beef which was exquisitely blended with tapioca and spices to produce not-that-elegantly-looking, but seductively spicy kappa biriyani. There were a variety of breads including perfectly round shaped poori to be enjoyed together with south Indian chicken curry. Students were also mindful to prepare a diverse mix of salads and beverages like green salad, fruit salad and blends of lemonades.

There were also some important contributions from members of the staff who were on hand to prepare some scrumptious food – vegetable noodles, and of course chicken biryani. After it was decided the Red and Blue Houses would share the winning prize, it was time for everyone to satiate their, now, unquenchable hunger and savour the fruit of their sweat.
