Onam Celebrations

On 9^th September 2016 Girijyothi College celebrated Onam, the ethnic festival of Kerala, with all its majesty. Sri. Roshy Augustine MLA, Idukki was the chief guest of the day.

Mr. Steffin George the newly elected college union chairman welcomed the gathering. Sri. Roshy Augustine inaugurated the programme at 10: 00 am with his valuable words and by putting flowers in the floral carpet. Rev. Fr. Babu Mattathil CMI and Rev. Fr. Toji Puthenkaduppil CMI felicitated the gathering. III B.com students Mr. Jifnas Yoosuf and Ms. Rincy Mathew then entertained the gathering with a melodious “Onappattu.” Ms. Sobhanakumari, academic coordinator, proposed vote of thanks. With this formal inaugural session was over and the dias was opened for various competitions. They are: Pookkalam, Onappattu, Panchagusti, Filling the Bottle with Water, Baloon Breaking, Sundarikku Pottuthodal, Lemon and Spoon Race, Kalam Thallipottikkal and finally Tug of War (Vadam Vali). Payasam was served to add more sweetness in the celebration.
