College Day Celebrations
Girijyothi College, a new generation educational institution
of international standards and the first arts and science regular college in
the district head quarters, Idukki celebrated its first college day on 8th
April 2016 in a grand manner. The programme started with a prayer song and Rev.
Fr. Babu Mattathil CMI, the Manager and Head of Girijyothi Group of Institution
extended a warm welcome to the gathering.
Rev. Fr. Toji Puthenkaduppil CMI, principal Girijyothi College presented
the college report for the academic year 2015-16. Principal proudly announced the progress of
the college achieved so far and narrated the master events done in the past
year. This was followed by the presentation of college union report by Mr. Amal
Roy, the general secretary of the college union. Rev. Fr. John Thalachira CMI, the
vicar Provincial Muvattupuzha Carmel Province presided over the meeting. He
acknowledged the services of the college and wished the students to be
successful in all their endeavors.
The chief Guest for the day was Ms. Merin Joseph IPS, ASP
Munnar. By inaugurating the function, she emphasized that the right attitude,
consistent effort and constant practice are the key factors which would pave
the way for success in one’s life. On this occasion she unveiled the college news
letter and handwritten magazine by handing over a copy of manuscript to Miss.
Athira C.G the magazine editor. Sri. A.R Rajesh, General Manager, IDCB Idukki
blessed the occasion with his presence. Fr. Manager distributed the endowment
prizes instituted in memory of the late teacher, Sri. P.R. Surendran. Rev. Fr.
Biju Vettukallel CMI, principal, Girijyothi CMI Public School, wished the best
regards to the students, their parents and the general public for having the
boundless support extended to the college in fulfilling its vision. Mr. Ebin
Paulose, Chairman, College Union, felicitated the gathering. Mr. Jolly
Varghese, PTA President, Ms. Philomina John, PTA Vice President, PTA Executive
Members, parents, priests from Carmel Province, Muvattupuzha and well-wishers
were present for the function. Fr.
John Thalachira CMI distributed the prizes for the winners of various
competitions. In the afternoon session, the stage was set for
variety entertainments and the students staged their creative and artistic
talents. Finally Mis. Amala john, the vice president of college union expressed
vote of thanks. The programme concluded with national anthem.
