Principal’s
Day Celebration
Girijyothi College celebrated
Principal’s Day with much zest and enthusiasm on 19 February 2016. The focus of
the principal’s day is to recognise and appreciate the hard work and tireless
efforts of the principal Rev. Fr. Toji Puthenkaduppil CMI for leading the
college into success. Rev. Fr. Babu Mattathil CMI, Manager and Head of
Girijyothi Group of Institutions, Ms. Bincy Varghese, Assistant Professor, Mr. Ebin
Paulose, Chairman and Ms. Roniya Thomas, Student representative expressed the
heartiest wishes to the principal. Each of the speakers mentioned the dedication,
responsibility and sincerity of the principal Rev. Fr. Toji Puthenkaduppil. As
a token of love and appreciation for his valuable contributions, Rev. Fr. Babu Mattathil
CMI, presented a gift to principal. In the reply, Rev. Fr. Toji expressed his gratitude
to all the students, teachers and non-teaching staff for their support and co-operation.
The most awaited event of The Principal’s
Day, ‘Jyothirsparsham’, Distribution of Smart Cane to the visually challenged,
commenced at 1.30 pm with a mellifluous prayer song. Rev. Fr. Toji Puthenkaduppil,
Principal welcomed the esteemed gathering. Rev. Fr. Babu Mattathil, Manager
presided over the meeting. Mr. N.T.L Reddy IAS, Sub - collector, Idukki,
inaugurated the programme.
As a tribute to late poet and
lyricist Dr. ONV Kurup, students from various departments recited his poem and commemorated
his contributions to literature and film industry.
The key note address was delivered by
Rev. Fr. Roby Kannanchirayil CMI, Director, Chavara Cultural centre, Kochi. Rev.Fr.
John Thalachira CMI, Councillor and Vicar Provincial, Muvttupuzha and Mr. K. K
Vijayan, Deputy Thahsildar felicitated the gathering. Afterwards, Dr.Siby,
Primary Health Centre, Vazhathope lead a seminar on Health Awareness and Organ Donation.
During the felicitation, Smt. Lisamma Sajan, District Panchayath Member, Rev.
Fr. Biju Vettukallel CMI, Principal, Girijyothi CMI Public School, Mr. Jain
Augustine President, Lions Club, Idukki, Mr. P. Rajan, Secretary Hope
Foundation, Idukki, also expressed their whole hearted support to
‘Jyothirsparsham’. Smart Canes were distributed to eleven blinds by the
dignitaries. Mr. Ebin Paulose, Chairman, delivered the vote of thanks. The first
phase distribution of Smart Cane came to an end by 4.15 pm. The college
auditorium was packed with students, parents, representatives of various organizations and general public. The programme concluded with the national
anthem.
