Inauguration of NSS Unit and UGC Net Coaching

21^st November 2016 was an ever memorable day for Girijyothi College, Cheruthoni. Being a new generation educational institution and has put one more step towards her growth by opening National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit and UGC NET coaching in the institution. Prof. C. Ravindranath, honourable Minister for Education, Kerala, has inaugurated these new ventures. He defined education as “the process of making human beings as human beings.” He reminded the students to connect education with daily life and NSS will be helping them for the same. He also motivated the students to make maximum use of UGC NET coaching since it is something that provides competent individuals to the field of education.

Sri.  M. M. Mani, honourable Minister elect for Electricity, inaugurated the different study clubs (Management Club, Arts and Literature Club, Nature Club, Anti-addiction Club and Photography Club) for the academic year 2016-17. He said that maintaining personal needs and caring societal needs are important and the functioning of the clubs will promote them. Sri. Roshi Augustine, honourable MLA, Idukki, delivered the Key Note Address wherein he gave his heart-felt wishes towards all the new ventures. Rev. Fr. Dr. Jose Thuravackal CMI, Secretary for Education, Carmel Province, Muvattupuzha and vice-principal of SH College, Thevara, in his Presidential address expressed his appreciation in the growth of this institution. Rev. Fr. Toji Puthenkaduppil CMI, Principal, Girijyothi College welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr. Babu Mattathil CMI manager and head of Girijyothi group of institutions, expressed his deep sentiments of gratitude and presented a memento to the education minister.  Mrs. Ancy Thomas, President, Vazhathope Grama Panchayath felicitated the gathering. District Panchayath Member Smt. Lisamma Sajan, Gramapanchayat members, parents, neighbours and many well wishers blessed the function with their esteemed presence. Mr. Eric Mascarenhas, Mr. Sunny Sudam, Ms. Krishnapriya Mohan, Ms. Aiswarya Thomas were the anchors of the function. Mr. Steffin George, Chairman of the college union, proposed vote of thanks.

As a part of the inauguration of the clubs, each club conducted different exhibitions and variety entertainment programme. Thus the day came to an end fruitfully.
