“KERALA
PIRAVI” CELEBRATIONS (November 1, 2016)

Piravi celebrations of Girijyothi College, Cheruthoni, started at 1:30 pm in
the college auditorium. Mrs. Ancy Thomas, President, Vazhathoppu Grama
Panchayat, served as the Chief Guest of the day. The inaugural session started
with a prayer led by the college choir followed by welcome address by Ms.
Akshara Johny, Vice Chair Person, Girijyothi College. Rev. Fr. Babu Mattathil
CMI, Manager and head of Girijyothi Group of Institutions, delivered the
Presidential address, wherein father emphasized the importance of “Amma
Malayalam.” Mrs. Ancy Thomas then inaugurated the program with her valuable words
and lighting the lamp. She spoke about a set of programs started by the Kerala
Government on this day and she requested the support of each and every individual.
Rev. Fr. Toji Puthenkaduppil CMI, Principal, Girijyothi College, and Mr. Alan
George, staff representative felicitated the gathering with their valuable
words. The inaugural session came to an end with a vote of thanks proposed by
Amal John, General Secretary, Girijyothi College.
The
dais was the opened for variety entertainments initiated by Ranga Pooja by Amala and group. Afterwards,
a paper presentation on Kerala’s history, culture and tradition was done by Kumari.
Dani Wilson. It was followed by a set of solo songs and group songs by
different groups. “Amma Malayalam” and quiz competitions were coloured the
occasion. Mr. Vishak Sadan and Mr. Sachin of first B.Com computer application
bagged away the prizes for “Amma Malayalam” and Ms. Amala John and Ms. Krishnendhu
P.T. won the prize for quiz competition. After a fruitful session the program
ended by 04:00 pm with national anthem.
