College Union Election

The College Union Elections for the academic year 2016-17 was held on 8^th August 2016 in Girijyothi College Cheruthoni.

Ms. Bincy Varghese Assistant Professor, Department of Economics was the Returning Officer. Ms. Elizabeth Sebastian Dept. of English acted as Presiding Officer and Mr. Rubin John of Dept. of Commerce served as the observer. The election was held for eight electoral positions that are the Chairman, Vice Chairperson, General Secretary, Councilor, Arts club Secretary, Magazine Editor, Representatives and Lady Representatives.

The referendum procedures began exactly at 10. 00am and continued till 1.00pm. No sort of malpractices or violence were reported and election procedures took place peacefully.

After the polling and counting the results were announced.

The results are as follows:

Ø  Steffin George of II B.com Finance and Taxation was elected as the Chairman.

Ø  Amal John of II B.com Computer Application was elected as the General Secretary.

Ø  Gokul J Menon of I B.com Computer Application was elected as the Arts Club Secretary.

Ø  The next contest was for Representatives. Eric Mascarenhas was elected as the First Year Representative and Anadhu Soman as Second Year Representative.

Ø  Jovalna Jolly of II B.com was elected as Lady Representative of second year and Dani Wilson of I B.com was elected as the Lady Representative of  first year.

Ø  The contestants for the position of vice chairperson and Magazine Editor, were elected unopposed. Akshara Johny was elected as Vice Chairperson and Anu Babu as the Magazine Editor.

Thus 93.75% of votes were casted and the election for the academic year 2016-17 was over.
