A dangerous
flood hit Kuttanadu and the lives of people with heavy damages. The flood water
submerged the entire region and forced a large number of families to leave
their homes and settled in relief camps. The disaster struck us unexpectedly
and caused extensive damage to the state’s infrastructure also. There were
losses of houses, appliances and domestic animals in the wake of the disastrous
flood that hit the region in early August 2018. Our college under the
leadership of NSS unit raised in the need of the hour and helped flood affected
people of Kuttanadu. They collected essential materials from our students,
staff and various shops in an around Cheruthoni and the same was handed over to
Rev. Fr. Mathew Manjakunnel CMI, Councillor for Social Apostolate, Carmel
Province, Muvattupuzha. They distributed it to the highly needy people at
Kainakary region of Kuttanadu. The whole relief stuff amounted to about sixty
thousand rupees. It was a benchmarking involvement of the college.
